Asymmetry of the breasts is a congenital anomaly that can be embarrassing and affect one’s self-confidence.
Fortunately, breast asymmetry can be surgically corrected or improved using several different techniques, depending on the patient’s unique characteristics. Although perfect symmetry is not usually attainable, plastic surgeons can reduce a size discrepancy between the breasts and bring them into balance.
After a consultation to evaluate your health and medical history, your surgeon will first evaluate the size and position of your breasts and determine a plan for correction. Correcting breast asymmetry typically involves enlargement of a small breast or reduction of a large breast, depending partly on the patient’s preference.
Techniques such as breast augmentation and breast reduction may be utilized by your plastic surgeon during this procedure. See the following pages for more information.
